October 31, 2008 ~ Alana got to go out and ride Karey's horse Sheila and study how a real horse moves, looks and feels upclose and personal! What a way to spend Halloween!
September 21, 2008 ~ Model Horse Fun Show at the Chestermere Country Fair. Joan M. judged the classes for us. We had mare, stallion, gelding & foal classes.

November 18, 2007 ~ The girls continued to work on the models they are customizing. They painted some Gesso on them and used some of Tammy's little tools to do some detail work.
October 27, 2007 ~ The girls started working on their books. Amanda sanded on her model.
September 25, 2007 ~ The girls started thinking about what they wanted to do for customizing their models. Amanda mixed and poured her model as she's starting it from scratch from a kit where you create it from scratch.
April 8, 2007 ~ We met at Amanda & Alana's house. This meeting was designated to catch up on any projects that we didn't have completely done and needed to get done for Achievement Day. We worked on saddles, cinches and anything else that needed work.
March 4, 2007 ~ We met at Tammy's house. We did a cinch making workshop where we all started making our cinches to go with our saddles. It's much harder and time consuming then any of us thought it would be. Tammy does a great job in making them, but she has more patience then we do!
February 25, 2007 ~ This meeting was held at Amanda & Alana's house. Photos for the photo showing contest to send to Salmon Arm 4-H Club are below. The members cut out the saddles and started putting them together.

January 20, 2007 ~ This meeting was held at Tammy & Krysta's house. We started off this meeting by judging some photos sent up to us from the Salmon Arm Model Horse 4-H Club. There were a number of different classes and various photos from the Salmon Arm members. It was interesting to see how people do photos and how they are all so different.
The rest of the meeting we spent cutting out our backboards which will be used for our performance class setups.
December 17, 2006 ~ At today's meeting we learned how to fix a broken leg on one of Robyn's model horses. Tammy also showed us how to carve the hooves and ears which you would do if you were customizing a model.
November 11, 2006 ~ For this meeting we had Elisha Jackson who is a broadcast news student at SAIT. She has been covering agriculture stories and she was wondering if I could interview someone from our club. She wanted to know the types of activities we do and other things that make our organization unique. So she came and joined in for our project meeting. She did brief interviews which will air in SAIT radio. To take a peek at the movie clips, check out the movie section of the site.
Tammy also did a tack/saddle workshop where the kids discussed the different types of western saddles, the accessories that goes with the different saddles and what you'd need to make each one work in a performance class.
October 29, 2006 ~ We all met at Tammy & Krysta's house and did a model horse tree building workshop to use for our live showing later this year.
September 30, 2006 ~ Our first project meeting/field trip to Spruce Meadows to do photo showing photos.
May 7, 2006 ~ The model horse project met at Rosemarie's house. Tammy did a workshop on how to set up a performance class for live showing. She demonstrated the proper use of props like flower jumps, flower pots if used, and how to position the model the proper distance from obsticles.
March 18, 2006 ~ Castle Toys Fun Day Mini Horse Show. They had a diorama contest, Best Stallion, Best Mare, Best Foal & Best Dressed. Krysta won 1st place ($85.00) in Junior for her diorama. Amanda won 3rd place ($25.00) for her diorama.
March 4, 2006 ~ We had Terri come and do a pastel painting workshop. Terri also showed us how to make props for our models.
February 12, 2006 ~ We had Bobbie M. from out of town come to do a Live Showing workshop for our group. We learned where to place your model on the table, how lighting and position can make a big difference. What kind of classes to place our horses in. We learned how to properly tag the horses. For performance classes, she taught us how to make sure everything is in scale with the horse, including how to properly fit the tack on the model. She also talked about how to clean the models without harming them.
January 15, 2006 ~ We had a tack workshop. The kids learned all about the types of saddles, bridles, bits, etc. that are used and what they are used for and why. We also started our diarama project for the March Fun Day Model Show @ Castle Toys. Meeting held at Krysta & Tammy's house. (Thanks Michelle & Colby for the additional photos)
