1st Year Members:
~ Halters - 1 per model horse used, must be made, not purchased.

- Traditional size: Length: 24" - Height: 5 1/2" with pole, 6 1/2" without.
- Classic size: Length: 20" - Height: 3 3/4" with pole, 5 1/4" without.)
- Dowel size: 1/4" x 36"
Trees/Bushes
~ Hand make a saddle. (May use a kit or pattern from a book.)
~ Tack to be made - Western bridle, western saddle, saddle pad & cinch.
~ Western Performance - Pick a performance (example: western games, working western, western pleasure.) Research appropriate tack for your choice of performance. (If you use a doll it has to have the correct clothes on, so you may need to make that too.)
~ Photo Showing - Field Trip to Spruce Meadows to take these photos as a group.

~ Tri Fold - Pick a breed of horse to research. Your tri fold needs to include the following information:
- Origin of the breed.
- History of the breed.
- What it was used for?
- The people it was connected to & significance?
- Ceremonies - Traditional tack
- Where you find it today?
- What performance classes does it do?
- Why did you choose this breed?
- What did you learn about this horse?
~ Customize a Classic or Traditional scale model horse. This includes acrylics, pastels, etching or hairing.
~ Create a Show Package for a "Mock Model Horse Show" - (Photo or Live Show)
Your show package must include the following information. Name of show, date, location, daily schedule, rules, entry form, classlist & divisions. We also want to know how you would advertise your show. (This information is what you would need to do a real show. You may also need to research what it would take to get your live show "NAN" approved, if you were setting up a NAN show.)
~ Self Project - You can do 2 self projects to start with. You must complete these 2 projects before proceeding to any new projects. You may do up to a maximum of 5 projects.
You need to present your ideas for your project to your project leader(s) prior to starting your projects and approved by your leader(s). You must explain the steps you took to complete your project and take step by step photos of your projects in progress. You also will need to list the supplies used to create your projects.
