CLUB MANDATORY ACTIVITIES:

Calgary 4-H

All members must complete the "Provincial 4-H Rules and Standards".

During the year the District & Region have some fun days and camps for the members. You will be notified of the dates when available. Cost of these events are very minimal and you are not required to go. Summer 2006 there are many Provincial Weekly Camps also. More nformation will be available at a later date. All these activities are a lot of fun and the members gain many experiences and friendships.

This "DOES NOT INCLUDE YOUR PROJECT BOOK". Your Project Leader will give you the Project Book.

This is a brief outline of our 4-H year. There may be some changes and additions as we go along but this is a basic outline of the year. The members are here to learn about their project and have fun. Hope you will join us!!

Provincial 4-H Rules & Standards:

All Alberta 4-H members must complete these activities to be a 4-H member.

During the 4-H year ~ September to August

The 4-H member must complete the record book for their project(s).

The 4-H member must attend at least 70% of all general meetings and project meetings. E.g. 10 general meetings, they can only miss 3.

The 4-H member must do one communication activity. E.g. Public speaking.

The club with the members must do at least one community service that the club or members do not get compensation for.

The 4-H member must attend their clubs achievement day.

These rules can not be changed by any 4-H club. The 4-H club may have other rules or standards depending upon the type of club and what the members feel would make their club operate more successfully.

4-H is a family involvement club. The meetings are chaired and run by the children but they need parent support in planning, transportation, and funding. Parents please plan to stay at the meetings and help the members learn and plan their club year and activities. Also children do not always take home all the information and if you are there, you know what is planned and have input. Thank you for looking at this program for your children and we will do our best to teach them the life skills they will need as they become adults. (Public speaking, leadership, record keeping, parliamentary procedure (how to run meetings) and how to plan and organize activities.)
